Participant Guidelines – Young Person

Our sessions are delivered online, a participating hyperlink and meeting ID will be shared with you prior to the session.

Online Workshop Etiquette

  • Please arrive on time for the workshop. If you know that you are going to be late, please inform us so we can watch out for you in the waiting room.

  • Please display the child's first name (and perhaps initial of surname) when loggining into the session. This is important for registration as well as safeguarding reasons.

  • The child should be in a space where a parent/guardian is in the same premises while the workshop takes place. Indeed we can be “babysitting” a child home alone. If the leader has any concerns that this is not the case, they will ask the participant to leave the workshop.

  • Parents may be present in the room during the workshop, however they:

    • Should allow their child to be the main participant and keep intervention to a minimum;

    • Must not correspond with other participants;

    • Should simply be there to support their child when called upon by the course leader, and;

    • Must stay off screen except for brief moments of technical support when necessary.

  • Participants are expected to dress appropriately and behave with consideration. Be themselves and respect for others. Any deliberate ongoing disruptions may result in the participant being asked to leave the workshop.

  • The participants must remain on mute unless directed by the workshop leader to come off mute.

  • Participants are expected to give the workshop and their workshop leader their full attention. Please do not be seen on screen reading a book or playing with a toy.

  • Your child will not be able to have a private chat conversation with other participants in the session as this possibility will be disabled for safeguarding reasons and to minimise distractions. They can, however, use reactions and group chat to engage with their peers and workshop leader.

Further Advice

Make sure your video is on during the session.

  • If your child feels too uncomfortable with this, we will support them in understanding 1) why this is important and 2) acclimatizing to having their screen / camera on.

o   Indeed, this feature is important in many aspects including but not limited to safeguarding of the children in the session, social interaction growth, etc.

Sign out or “leave the meeting” as soon as the session is finished. Parents may need to intervene at this point, but please leave the meeting as soon as possible once directed

We look forward to welcoming your child to their club :o)
